Harwood Private Equity is a leading investor in UK lower mid-market companies

For over 25 years, Harwood Private Equity (HPE) has focused on innovative ways to invest and unlock value in promising private businesses and in undervalued quoted companies. HPE seeks to support companies with an enterprise value of between £15 million and £75 million.

HPE has an established and experienced team of private equity specialists. We lead transactions using a low-leverage strategy. We invest in buyouts of, and provide expansion capital to, small and medium-sized UK companies across a broad range of sectors. The varied backgrounds of the team and the firm’s operational advisers enhance execution efficiency and mitigate commercial risks inherent in transactions. The firm has a reputation for acting quickly and professionally.

HPE is considered a leader in the execution of small-cap public-to-private (PTP) transactions, having completed 26 PTPs during the life of the funds.

HPE looks for potential investee companies that have high-quality operational management, maintainable earnings, decent market share, latent value and significant potential for growth. The Funds have invested in diverse industries: life sciences, biotechnology, multi-site leisure, precision manufacturing, financial services, media and healthcare components and services.

The firm has managed five private equity funds since 1999, making sixty-four investments with a total value of £1.4 billion. Most of these have been proprietary transactions.

We have built an excellent track record over the five funds. The team has demonstrated its ability to access proprietary deal flow, avoid competitive situations and acquire businesses for value. The firm’s strategy is to generate strong returns for our investors by creating larger and more profitable businesses that are attractive to a wide range of buyers.
